Avian Architecture

2009

A solo drawing exhibition I had in 2009, focused on the wonder of nest crafting, and the covert way in which birds build these temporary structures, out of the materials at hand. Large graphite drawings invited close viewings of these otherwise ubiquitous objects, and marvelled at the capacity of birds to construct complex arrangements without training or opposable thumbs. Additionally, they were not observed by local people, being devious in their movements - until of course when deciduous trees lost their leaves in Winter.
